HURRICANE IKE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!! Many many of you were praying for us here in Texas as Ike made his way up Highway 45 and into our back yard. Thank you so much. WE ARE ALL ALIVE including my daughter in Houston who heeded the mayor and "sheltered-in-place"...here is a brief update:
We had alot of damage...boat covers shredded, awnings ripped off our house, ceiling on our back porch collapsed and ceiling fan has only one blade left on it...all the others were literally ripped off. There are three really big holes in the roof and our pool was full of roof shingles and other gunk. Our house is vine-covered on three sides and one whole side had the vines ripped off. We lost two huge plants off our boat dock...they simply disappeared--- I guess into the lake. Trees were down everywhere. Two of my friends had trees through their homes. We own the lot across the street that is fenced and has a gazebo on it. It is our dogs play-yard (7 dogs). The wheaten terrier weather vane was ripped to shreds and several branches of the two huge trees came down. We are still fighting with the insurance company. Son Andy and his wife Kari had much debris in Louisville as did Ashley in her yard in Houston. Everyone I know around here suffered to some degree. We had a generator so were much more comfortable than those who didn't. Ashley stayed with friends and Andy was flying most of the time so poor Kari had to sleep at the hospital (she is a doctor) and then run home to check on the two elderly weenie dogs Bonnie and Clyde. I have friends in Ohio who just now have power again. UNBELIEVABLE. It is amazing that so far, only 70 people were killed nationwide. There are still 450 missing here in Texas.
 Really, Monarchs, I felt your prayers and even during the ordeal, I was calm as were my husband and all of the dogs. This picture to the left is the sky from our boatdock the night before IKE hit....

UPDATE: JULY 22, 2008 Just talked to BEV and she sounds pretty good. She said that other than a few set-backs, she is recovering nicely. SHE SAID TO PLEASE TELL EVERYONE WHO CALLED, CONTRIBUTED TO HER FLOWERS, SENT CARDS, PRAYED etc. how very GRATEFUL SHE IS FOR ALL HER MONARCH FAMILY!!! It really was touching to her to hear from so many of you and she loved her flowers. UPDATE: October 4, 2008 Bev is almost fully recovered but still needs your prayers as Roy has to look for another job.

Here is an update Dan's wife Cynthia sent to Beverley: "Hi Beverly, So sorry to see & hear about your health issues. I will add you to my prayers. Update on Dan Blocker: Danny's upper Esphogus value and swallowing muscles have harden due to the radiation and a minor surgery will take place on December 7th. The valve and muscle will be cut to allow easier swallowing. He also will have a minor repair to the tongue and soft tissue in the mouth. This will make the tongue reconstruction smaller and hopefully help his speech and eating. Dan's liver is not doing to well and his bone in the jaw has not been healing as it should. Prayers would be appreciated. God Bless you all and thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Cynthia Blocker for Dan Blocker."

AND THIS TODAY, DEC. 10:
"Hi everyone, The procedures went very well. Danny's throat due to radiation has scar tissue and maybe stiff muscles that were causing his esophagus to close. The esophagus muscles were not cut as it was so tight they could not be sure what was the problem. His throat was dialated to the size of a quarter. This may have to be done again. A procedure was done to the tongue that should help overall swallowing, speech etc. Dan is speaking pretty much as he was before the operation. Swallowing in better but we will know better after he heals from this procedure. His main agenda is to start eating and putting on more weight like about 20 pounds. His liver was elevated but the blood test show it is healing. The liver and lungs show no signs of cancer. We arrived at home Sunday about 3:00 pm. It is lightly snowing today and we are enjoying a fire. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. Love Cynthia & Danny"
